An excellent overnight spot is located between Île des Barques and Île du Moine. To reach it, head upstream while keeping a safe distance from the line of aquatic vegetation along Île du Moine, and be sure to watch out for the downstream tip of Île des Barques, which extends further than it appears. The channel is deep for most of its length, but beware of the submerged stone weir blocking the passage upstream. The area is also renowned for fishing: yellow perch, brown bullhead, and northern pike can be found near the tall grass, while smallmouth bass and walleye inhabit the waters around the weir. The sunrises over Île du Moine are well worth the trip in themselves.
